The club was sad to hear of the passing of Danny O’Neill one of our former junior/youth players in the Christmas/New Year period. Danny was a Stanley player in the youth teams of the 1990’s, a successful period for the youth set up. Although he didn’t play much open age rugby he played with many who went on to be mainstays of Stanley Open Age teams.

He was a well known and popular member of many at the club and he will be sadly missed by many. His passing, at the age of 43, came as a shock to many of us.

The thoughts of all the members and especially those who knew him and have fond memories of him are with his mum Jane, brother Ryan and the rest of his family and friends at this very sad time.

Danny’s funeral will be held at Sacred Heart Church, Heys Road, Thornton at 11:00am on Thursday 13rh February 2025.
