The club has won the prestigious Community Club of the Year Award, awarded by Blackpool Sports Council and supported by Blackpool Council, the NHS Trust and Blackpool FC. The club came out on top of a strong list of shortlisted candidates including Bispham Junior Football Federation and Blackpool Amateur Swimming Club.
The club received the Community Club of the Year award as it continues to thrive outside of the sports heartland thanks to a much admired youth policy. Young people at the club are exempt from paying subscriptions of any kind and the numbers participating in the sport has increased year on year.
Club Chairman, Simon Hornby, commented ” this is a significant achievement for the club given the amount of community clubs that exist across many sports and is testament to the hard work and determination of our small band of enthusiastic volunteers”. He added “we have proved year on year that it is possible to provide sporting opportunity for all without the need to charge subscriptions and whilst increasing numbers of participants and improving facilities”.
