The club has invested in a 12 month package of Sky Sports which is now available in the club house for the enjoyment of all members and their guests. The arrival of the satellite broadcasters rugby league offerings completes another piece in the overall development of rugby league at the club and in the town.
Club Chairman, Simon Hornby, commented “it has been a long term goal of ours to have rugby league broadcast live to the clubhouse. Our young people will benefit greatly from seeing more live rugby league and trying out the skills of the professionals on our training grounds. Many of our younger players only see games broadcast by the terrestrial TV stations and this is limited to Challenge Cup rounds and some Internationals, perhaps 6 or 8 games a year. With the arrival of Sky sports we will be able to offer that amount a month as a minimum”.
The club also hope that the regular showing of rugby league in the clubhouse will attract new social members to the club from the local area. At times when rugby league is not being shown, particularly during the winter months, other sports will be shown so as to maintain use of the clubhouse.
Whilst SKY is available from Today the club will be making the most of the facility on the weekends of the Championship Summer Bash (23rd & 24th May) and the Super League Magic Weekend (30th & 31st May) when all the games from each event will be showing.
