With only 7 players available due to holidays, injuries, suspensions and late cry offs 7 of the clubs under 16’s team travelled to Askam in Cumbria yesterday to fulfill their scheduled league fixture. The two clubs shared players to complete the fixture and allowing the magnificant 7 to have a run out and a trip north of the boarder (The Lancashire one).
For Askam, Blackpool Stanley were only the second side to have travelled to the Cumbrian town this year to fulfill a fixture in the NWC 16’s league, al other teams in the league had forfitted the fixture. Well done to Oli tribe, Sean craven, James guy, George guy, Harry kenyon, Jordan Hindley and Dean harding.
Proof if proof were needed that youth sport isn’t always about winning or losing but about playing the game. Without the commitment of the 7, 17 of the Askam players wouldn’t have had a game and the Parents and supporters of the Askam club would have missed the chance of seeing their side play a home fixture.
Well done to everyone involved.
