League Under 13 team 2013

Match Report

Blackpool Stanley travelled to the league leaders with just 12 men and put up a spirited performance. Despite early pressure and possession Stanley failed to capitalise on any of their opportunities in the first half. Jordan Hindley worked hard to force errors in the Lions line but to no avail. Some good defence from Taylor O’Brien and Nathan Winter kept the Lions at bay for periods of the half but in the end some basic errors by Stanley saw the Lions make easy yards and score 24 first half points without reply’

The second half proved much more even with the Stanley forwards, primarily Liam Harrison and Fergus Anderson, making good yards and being supported well by Cameron Bullen and Jack Jones. Although the Lions scored two further converted tries, Stanley managed two unconverted tries themselves both of which came from Fergus Anderson out wide.

Stanley’s man of the match was Taylor O’Brien who worked hard organising Stanley in attack and who never gave up defending when needed. Stanley have a free week next week and then host the Lions at home when they will hope to start as they finished , with a much more competitive performance.
