Langworthy Reds U13 62 — 6 Blackpool Stanley U13

Match Report

Blackpool Stanley Under 13’s returned to action following a weeks break for the bank holiday and were given a rugby league lesson by the division leaders Langworthy Reds. Stanley started the game well enough and matched their opponents in the opening exchanges, strong runs from Keelan Openshaw and Liam Harrison causing problems for the Reds defence. Although The Reds managed two early scores (12 – 0) Stanley fought back and managed to set up an attack from 15 metres out. It was Openshaw, taking a short pass from O’Brien, who forced his way over from short range allowing Tribe to convert from just under the posts (12 – 6).

The rest of the first half seemed a little one sided with Stanley making errors when in possession and failing to stop some of the strong running Reds forwards. Perhaps a little rustiness from the weeks lay off. The score at Half time was 28 – 6.

The second half saw a similar pattern emerge with the Stanley defence unable to cope with the strong running of the Reds attackers. There were however some  promising signs from Jordan Hindley and Nathan Winter in defence, and with similar showings from some of the other Stanley players then the score could have been restricted. Final score 52 – 6.
