Stanley welcomed Wigan Spring View ‘A’ to Kingscote Park in this North West Divison 5 fixture.
The visitors struck first with a try from close range, which gave Stanley the wake up call they needed after a slow start. Stanley soon levelled the score with Brett Whitehead crashing over from short range.
It wasn’t long before Stanley were over again with two quick tries from Jordan Brocklehurst & Jordan Fairlie, both finding their way over the line through great play from half backs Joe Phelps & Tommy Hibbert.
A second for Whitehead soon followed, dummying his way though the line to touch down. However, Spring View scored again before half time making it 24-12 at the break.
A second half full of penalties and errors kept the game close until Ben Hindley picked up the ball within his own 10m line, jinked past a few defenders and set off to score a length of the field try to give Stanley some distance.
Moments later, Whitehead dummied his way through the line again to race in under the sticks to complete his hat trick.
Spring View replied with a try of their own but Stanley soon found their way back downfield
with a good set of 6, finding winger Kenny Yiu out wide who touched down in the corner beating two defenders.
2 late try’s from Spring View made the final score 40-30. It was a great day with the boot for Dave Minnikin who converted 6 of Stanley’s 7 try’s. The win keeps Stanley top of the table with 3 games to go.
Next week Stanley are at home again as they welcome Liverpool St Helens to Kingscote Park.
