Blackpool Stanley 8 Higginshaw 34

Blackpool Stanley finally got their league season started on a very wet windy day on the wrong end of a defeat by an experienced Higginshaw side who handled the conditions better than the home side scoring 6 tries to 2 with the home sides handling letting them down at crucial times.

The blustery wind was not helping either side from kick off with the away side getting used to it quicker scoring a couple of quick tries with some good handling although Dan Phelps at full back pulling off some huge high balls making good ground off the back of them.

After Higginshaw  scored another try the home side showed what they could do with a great handling move down the left with the final ball from Jordan Hindley putting his brother Ben in at the corner for a great score in the corner just before half time.

Key injuries to Phelps and Joe Connell having to leave the field after the break were not helping the home side but with Jack Connell leading the pack charge Stanley again  went close but handling errors were proving costly as the away side showed them by scoring 3 further tries although the home side had the last word as Dan Jones powered over for a good try.

Stanley now have a week off before travelling away to Golborne Parkside and will look for their first win of the season.
