Blackpool Stanley 18 Langworthy Reds 32
29th June 2019, Kingscote Park, Layton.
Blackpool Stanley who play in Div. 5 and having no league match welcomed 2nd Div. opponents Langworthy Reds with both teams playing not only 1st team players but fringe players as well.
From the start both sides were testing each other out with some crunching tackles as Props Andy Lee and Henry Stelfox led the way making hard yards. The first chance of the game came Stanleys way as a high kick by Mc Allister was knocked on but the away side kept them out from the resulting scrum. It wasn`t long before Hamilton Jones did a kick over with Jack Brocklehurst following through made a great tackle on his opposite number who then spilled the ball with Jordan Hindley scooping up the loose ball to power over from 30m out for a try converted by Jones.
The same player then got his 2nd try as another kick over led to McAllister picking up and putting a great pass out to Hindley who ran round the full back for his 2nd try and a half time lead of 10-0. The high kick was working for the home side as at the start of the 2nd half debutant Arron Williams leaped highest to tap the ball back into Henry Anslows hands who crashed over for his debut try.
Langworthy then got back into the game by showing their 2nd division status by scoring three quick fire tries and 2 conversions taking the lead for the 1st time with the many changes being made not helping the home sides cause. The away side were on the ascendancy scoring another converted try but Stanley got back into the game as from a quick tap from a penalty Jones crashed over for a try taking three opposition players with him.
Langworthy did score the last points right on full time with a converted try but Stanley will have got a lot out of this game especially the younger players like Williams, Anslow and George Bridge who all made their debuts. Man of the match for Stanley was Joe Kirton whose relentless tackling impressed the away side along with the young Stanley side.
